Now that Summer is wrapping up, the favorable weather and the patios days are numbered. So what does that mean? That means you should go out and enjoy and savor every last minute. To do that, here is a simple way to brighten up your eyes and add some false eyelashes for fun (you know, get a little flirty, it’s not too late to find that Summer fling). I do have one disclaimer, I have shared pictures of the process and I do not airbrush, my wrinkles and imperfections are there up close! Be kind, I wanted to be realistic!
Electric Symmetry
What can I say, this dress is just fun and girly. Having said that, I leave you with lots of extra pictures today!

Flirty Fluted {skirt}
Ahh….it’s Friday! I’m trying to get all my Summer outfits in as it seems it became Fall overnight with the first Bears Football game last night and the cool morning breeze this AM. I have a fairly relaxed weekend planned with girlfriends. We are going to try out a new establishment focused on bubbly, RM Champagne Salon…it just sounds fancy, can’t wait! Have a great weekend!

Life’s a Beach
Even though I only live a short walk away from the beaches of Lake Michigan, I rarely make it to any of them other than to go for a run along the lakefront path. I decided to change that and designated a ‘beach day’ this week! Since all of the fashion magazines are beginning to release their famed September issues, I thought why not head to the beach for a day of perusing all the new Fall fashion. I even splurged and rented a chair and umbrella for the day which was well worth it. Unfortunately, the five magazines I purchased weighed about 20 lbs. and I really only made it through one of them; they are huge! Oh well, guess another beach day is in order so I can finish the rest. I hope you are enjoying the last few weeks of your Summer!

If I were going to Lolla….
If Lollapalooza was my thing, this is along the lines of what I would wear. You may be thinking it looks a little glam for Lolla, but I am not cool or hip enough or I’m too cool, or too hip (I get confused) to do the ‘rocker/grunge/I want to look like I haven’t showered in days but I actually have’ look. For me, this is the ideal ensemble for any outdoor street festival with temps in the 90s and here is my reasoning:
Brimmed hat~the best way to keep from getting a sunburn on the part in your hair
Jewelry~Leather & friendship bracelets, thin rings; when the temps soar, it’s best to keep jewelry minimal, especially rings as fingers swell; and to avoid any metal bracelets that may heat up and get sticky on your wrists
Sunglasses-no brainer
Light colored tank~keep the material light in color/pattern to stay cool and to disguise any sweat stains, this beaded tank does the job
Denim cut-offs~denim is durable, i.e. you can sit on the grass/dirty ground without the worry of dirt spots, and again disguises the sweat
Crossbody bag~you definitely don’t want to be carrying a handbag around all day and night
Flat sandals~now here I favor sandals, I know, I know…you can get dirty feet and people may step on your toes, but I just can’t do the worker boots in the Summer!
Sunscreen~the smartest and most important part of your day! Reapply every couple hours!!

Attending a Summer Wedding
As promised, here is the outfit I ended up wearing for the wedding I attended on Saturday. I adore weddings, and for me weddings mean lots of dancing at the reception. Therefore I keep a few things in mind when choosing what to wear. I want comfortable shoes because I do not like taking my shoes off to dance, I consider that cheating! Also, it is imperative I am in a dress that allows for movement. Nothing kills the night like feeling you are in a sausage casing and not being able to stretch your legs apart far enough to take a full step forward. Now, in fashion, you must be able to laugh at yourself…as you can’t and won’t always get it 100% right as described below.
So this reception had a constant stream of uptempo songs, and there was no break in the action to cool down. I am not complaining, I loved it! I loved it so much, I danced the night away and…..sweat right through the back of my dress! Yes, how embarrassing, I know! Like I said, you just have to laugh at yourself when these things happen. Two out of three isn’t bad…comfortable shoes-check!, dress that’s easy to dance in-check!, sweat proof dress-#fail!
