The Ultimate Makeup Organizer + my fav products

As you can see below I truly believe you can never have too many lip colors!  I used to be the girl with multiple makeup bags and always buying new makeup bags because they would loose their luster as soon as they started getting messy on the inside with makeup.  I also would forget what I had and not use products because I couldn’t see them or find them.  And then this beauty pictured below came into my life and changed everything!  This lovely and massive contraption pictured below is called a Glambox.  Glambox is the name of the company that makes this organizer along with other options and also jewelry organizers. It’s so easy to find what I need and keep everything clean!  I use mine for just makeup but you could use to organize anything and everything in your bathroom.  As you read on you will see some of my favorite makeup items that I actually have in this Glambox and you can shop them!  Enjoy!

  1. Dior Lip Glow color reviver-brings out natural color in your lips or will revive a lip color that is wearing out or fading in the middle.  I usually always have this on me!
  2. Stila Stay All Day lip color-these have a tendency to be dry but as long as you use chapstick or lip balm before it won’t dry out your lips.
  3. Lancome Rouge in Love lipstick-great colors and very moisturizing.
  4. Make Up For Ever Artist Rouge-I love this makeup brand, great lasting pigment and moisturizing.
  5. Nars lipstick-many great colors in this collection, one of my favorites is Schiap.
  6. Stila Stay All Day lip color-love this dark color, Chianti.
  7. Urban Decay Vice lipstick in Blackmail, by far my favorite dark lip color!
  8. Nars Velvet Matte lip pencil-don’t be fooled by the pencil, this glides on like a lipstick and is very moisturizing and comes in great colors, the one shown is Train Bleu.

  1. Bare Minerals Stroke of Light-undereye concealer, doesn’t get caked on or crease, very lightweight.
  2. Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Makeup Stick-great for foundation if you don’t want to carry around a liquid.
  3. Bobbi Brown Bronze Shimmer Brick-I use as a bronzer and highlighter and sometimes also as blush.
  4. Make Up For Ever Camouflage Palette-this is can be used for many things, nasty underage circles, blemishes, contouring, it really is a miracle palette!
  5. Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder-a translucent powder to set makeup when you don’t want that caked on powder look or too much coverage from your powder
  6. Benefit Watt’s Up highlighter-this is very similar to the Nars Multiple which I also recommend!  Works great as a highlight for cheekbones, forehead, and nose.  Not greasy or too glittery.
  7. Lancome Renergie Lift Makeup-by far the most purchased and longest running product in my Glambox!  There are many things I love about this foundation: it has SPF of 20, is very moisturizing but not thick or greasy, lasts all day, has good coverage without being too heavy.  If you are every looking for a new foundation, try this one!!
  8. Lancome Dual Finish Versatile Powder compact-can be used wet or dry depending on the coverage you are looking for.  I use dry to set the above foundation.

  1. Stila Stay All Day waterproof liquid eyeliner-THE. BEST. EYELINER. EVER.
  2. Sephora Collection retractible eyebrow pencil-very easy to use, not too heavy.
  3. Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow-eyebrow color pot, used to fill in brows, use brush to apply.
  4. Make Up For Ever Diamond powder– you just need a dab of this in the corner of your eye to glam up your look, I use for special events or a night out.
  5. Stila Huge Extreme Lash mascara-I use this when I do not have eyelash extensions on and I love it!
  6. Urban Decay eyeshadow primer-this product will change your life, it keeps your eyeshadow from creasing and fading.
  7. Urban decay eyeshadow-my favorite color is half-baked, a shimmery bronze shade. It’s actually in the original Naked Palette and is the only one I completely used up!
  8. Urban Decay Naked2 Basics eyeshadow palette–
  9. Boots No.7 mascara-this is an inexpensive mascara, but I think it works just as well as any other.
  10. Maybelline Great Lash mascara-definitely a classic, I currently use this in black with my eyelash extensions since it is water based and washes off easily at the end of the day.
  11. Urban Decay Naked Basics eyeshadow palette–
  12. Make Up For Ever star powder and glitters-I will say these can get a little messy if you are not used to using loose eyeshadow powder, but they are the pigmented, shimmery, long wearing eyeshadows I have ever found.  You can also get the silver/white shades and use in corners of the eyes or a brow bone highlighter.  You can also use wet to create a stronger look/color.

Here is a picture of a couple empty Glambox organizers and you can shop them here!

Valentine’s/Galentine’s Day gift ideas

If pink is your favorite color, your favorite Hallmark holiday is just around the corner (well outside of breast cancer pink October)…Valentine’s Day.  Let’s be honest, this day is an area of contention for many people.  It really should be called “Name that relationship day”.  For example, you set out in the new year full speed ahead on the love trail and lucky you, you started seeing someone that doesn’t make you cringe..yet.  Well hello, in the next few days you are inevitably going to be asked what that person is to you, boyfriend? future husband? just a friend?.  Sorry, blame it on the time of year.  Then complicate that with whether or not you should get a gift.

Now you’re thinking damn, I should have just waited to date after the bracket of commitment season ended.  What is this you ask?  Well I have learned from my own past relationships and countless friends and family the time from Thanksgiving to Valentine’s Day is a commitment and it is really sticky to get out during that time.  Many people want to end it before the holidays start so they don’t have to worry about it, but some grin and bear it so they don’t have to explain or answer questions to family about the separation.  You are married you say? in a committed relationship?…you aren’t out of the woods yet.  Again people look to this day as the one day your significant other should profess their love by shouting it from the rooftops.  If they don’t, what does that mean?  Gasp.  You try to play it cool, like oh yeah, I don’t care about Valentine’s Day, it’s just a stupid ploy to get me to spend money so we don’t celebrate.

Then everywhere you turn there is an aisle of heart shaped everything.  And the commercials, oh the commercials…which are all full blown eye roll worthy.  Never fear, here are a few gift ideas for those of you that are all heart shaped eyes emoticon over the big day and for those of you just trying to get through it alive!  Single or attached, there are ideas for you!

Disclaimer: These are mostly geared toward gift ideas for the ladies, so just let your guy know to look here for ideas for you!

Now of course remember, you don’t need a holiday to share your feelings and you should never have to prove to anyone other than each other how much you love one another.  So have fun with the day!

Need ideas?  Here you go…you are welcome.  If I didn’t cover your situation, let me know, I’ll see if I can help!

Married/long term relationship?

~Maybe you have a tradition at this point, if not flowers are never a bad idea but for the love of God don’t get roses!  Tell your florist a color scheme and budget and tell them to go crazy.

~You’ll really be the hero/heroine if instead of flowers you send your loved one a heart shaped pizza or box of cupcakes to the office.  So much cooler than flowers!

~If you are looking to impress (or for the gals wanting to spoil themselves) see the options below.  Yes, they are investments, but they also fall into the current color trend and are totally worth it!

Single?

Have any single girlfriends? (Hopefully this answer is yes, if not, I’m available)

~ Purchase mani/pedi gift certificates and have a girls date, preferably at a nail salon that is BYOB and relish in girl talk, dissect past relationships, plan a trip together, talk about whatever, just enjoy the time with people you love.  I do not advise going out to a restaurant….think Sex and the City when Carrie and Miranda went out with all the balloons and ribbons hanging from the ceiling and an unending row of tables for 2.

~Have a Netflix marathon, and if you are all Scandal fans, the wine glass featured below (the individual one shown)  is the exact one Olivia Pope uses on the show!  Just add a bottle of wine and best gift ever!

No single friends? (at least none that are around for the dreaded day of gushy love)

~Whatever you do, do not watch the Notebook at home alone, I repeat DO NOT do it.  Instead, enjoy your alone time, start reading a new book, possibly Amy Schumer, which I just happened to purchase.  I also enjoy Sex and the City reruns, always a good laugh and a healthy dose of fashion there!

New love?

Best way to go here is thoughtful.  Such as framing a photo of the two of you, especially since no one prints pictures anymore!  Want to be romantic and sweet?, I always think serving breakfast in bed is a good idea.  Have a coffee lover?  Try a departure from the Keurig with a Nespresso!  Get a really cool bed tray and go all out with mimosas, pancakes, eggs.  Added bonus: Put a wrapped piece of jewelry on the tray, such as the fabulous Gucci earrings below (yes, I know these are not for everyone, but you get the idea: JEWELRY).

And finally, I will leave you with this…..

Goldfinger {nail}

In case you are not a fan of James Bond, 007, or have missed all the previews, the newest Bond film, Skyfall, will be released in theatres this weekend. Personally, I am a huge James Bond fan, especially since he is now portrayed by Daniel Craig. I do have to thank my Dad and brother for the introduction to the series growing up. Seriously, what guy does not want to be James Bond and what girl does not want to date him? I will solidify my Bond fan credibility by sharing how I painted myself gold for a dance routine as a senior in high school. The best part is that I also convinced three others to do the same! Then while attending school at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles, I installed a window display showcasing a gold painted mannequin for a class assignment. Can you guess what the theme of the display was? I guess when it comes to painting things gold, I am very convincing!

Although I am excited about the film, I have to admit I am more excited that OPI has debuted a James Bond Skyfall nail color collection. In this collection there is…you guessed it…a gold nail polish. Yes, gold, as in 18K gold! Now it is only a topcoat with flecks of gold, but who cares, I’ll take it any way I can get it! If you are looking for a more solid gold look, there is the color, Goldeneye, in the collection.

Here is a different look to try from the OPI website. Unfortunately my nails are not long enough to do this.

OPI Man with the Golden Gun 18K gold topcoat

For your viewing pleasure, and just a good laugh, below is a picture from my high school dance days and sure enough I am painted gold…enjoy!

So serious, ha, ha!
