Work It Out

So yes, I’m here, I’m alive.  I just decided to take a little break for the New Year.  What I have been doing is working on my New Year’s resolution of getting fit and healthy.  I’m usually a healthy eater and try to work out regularly, but sometimes I fall off the wagon for awhile and it’s always difficult to get started again.  When I get into the groove (thank you Madonna) I usually have to find little things to keep me motivated along the way…such as new workout wear!

I probably spend more on workout wear than most but “workout wear” for me covers a lot of bases…I actually commute to and from work in workout wear, sometimes travel in it and then obviously workout in it!  So I justify the cost for it’s durability and use it gets.  I mean getting up and getting dressed is half the battle, so it makes it easier when you love what you’re wearing!

Haven’t stuck with your resolutions?  The beauty is that you can start again whenever you want!  A few other things that keep me motivated are new workout playlists and actually taking a class, in my case that would be spin class.  I’m also going to start training for a half-marathon as well, and I’m following Hal Higdon’s program, let me know if you want to join me!

I love black and white, it’s just so classic and sleek.  If you know me, you know I do not wear old t-shirts or crazy colored workout wear.  I go more for design and function with interesting details.  I have tried many brands and there are a few I absolutely love!  Still my absolute favorite workout pants are by Lululemon, the Wunder Under Hi-Rise legging in brushed black,  and I just discovered I love the new shorter 7/8 version too!  I also recommend Alo Yoga for their moto leggings, I have them in black and they now come in a high waist version and several colors (I would love to get them in white, but things need to get a lot tighter and smoother, lol)!  Lately I love New Balance for getting to and from class, I don’t run in them.  Running shoes are a whole different category and I don’t choose those on looks (I know, it’s serious), I go by fit.  We can talk about those another time:).

Here are my newest additions….

New Balance shoes, Takara leggings, Beyond Yoga sweater

This sweatshirt is so soft and it keeps selling out everywhere!

Gift Guide: $100 and Under

Still out shopping?  Only 14 days left until Christmas!!!  I have picked out a few ideas in the $100 and under range for today’s gift guide.
I have included a few of my personal favorites below such as:
  • The slip silk pillowcase.  It is made to not pull on your hair or skin, preventing split ends and aging.  It also comes in several colors such as pink, white, black, navy, gold, charcoal and caramel.
  • I’ve also included two workout brands I love, ALALA, the black and white leggings below, and the pink leopard print leggings by Varley.  Both brands have very cool pieces that rival Lululemon if you are looking for something everyone else doesn’t already have.
  • My absolute favorite thong underwear are also listed, Hanky Panky.  These are amazing quality, comfortable, lace and don’t cut into your side.  I prefer the low rise. They only come in two sizes, low rise and original rise.
  • I actually stumbled across the pouch shown in the left upper corner.  It is called a Commute clutch and has a place for your phone, cards, headphones and tablet or iPad.  For someone always changing bags, in my case my work bag and everyday bags, I think this is a great idea.

I added a few other cool things not shown in the picture above!

{Gift Guide} for the Fit girl

This next gift guide contains many of my favorite things!  I’m always on the hunt for new workout wear, it helps keep me motivated but I have also found that paying a little extra for well made pieces is definitely worth it for comfort and durability.  I retired the printed cotton t-shirts long ago, you know the ones from your alma mater, sorority  or the last 5K or charity event you participated in…if is was free it was not meant to be!  At least not for an intense sweat sesh!
I have to give credit to www.mysweatstyle.com for introducing me to many new brands.  Although I love the very popular brands such as lululemon, it’s nice to go to spin class and not be wearing the lulu uniform.  Sweat Style is a subscription box service that hand selects workout pieces for you according to your workout profile you create online which describes what sort of workouts you mainly do, color and fit preferences and even price point.  You receive 5 pieces with each box and keep what you want and return the rest, no minimum purchase required, just $20 a month for the service which goes towards any purchase you make.  If you click on the black Sweat Style box below you can sign up with my code and get $20 credit with first box!
      Now onto my picks below…
I’ll start with the ones I own and love:
The Swell water bottle, keeps drinks hot or cold for 24hrs and doesn’t sweat!  I have had ice keep for over 30hrs!
