The new flat

Even though I take every opportunity to be taller (obviously 5’10” isn’t enough), I have lately taken to flats.  Now let’s be clear here…heels still win when going out if it’s for dinner or drinks, but loafers and mules have been slowly making their debut this season.  I do despise the phrase “sensible shoes” but I have to admit these new options can actually be considered in such a way yet I prefer “built for distance”.

In addition to the burgundy patent loafers pictured, I have white mules on the way, which is the color I recommend if you are going to try them.  Style tip: no socks! and wear an ankle length or shorter pant.  You want to be able to see the entire shoe, no part of it should be covered with pants or you will lose the polished, tailored look.  These aren’t your Grandpa’s loafers!

These are currently in rotation, black and nude patent are from ZARA and the burgundy are from Marshall’s!  Similar options are shown below.  Just click the pictures to shop.

At the mothership of late… Gucci.

Chic Classics

Black & Nude pumps: Boutique 9, Red pumps: Zara

In the warmer weather, I take every opportunity to use my stems for my main mode of transportation.  Having said that, more often than not, I choose to wear some sort of flat shoe, even when heading out for a night on the town.  When I do decide to take the plunge (meaning into pain) and wear heels I usually end up picking one of these pumps.  Surprisingly they are some of my more comfortable shoes and they never disappoint. You just can’t go wrong with a classic black, nude, or red pump.  Also, if you were to invest in one pair of heels, nude or black pointed toe stilettos are the way to go!  Although trendy, I am eyeing some solid crisp white pumps to add to my collection…we’ll see.
